Dutch artist Joris Hoefnagel was famous for his drawings and engravings of plants and animals. While a court artist for Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II at the end of the 16th century, Hoefnagel illustrated a book of calligraphy that had been painstakingly created years earlier by preeminent calligraphist Georg Bocskay. This incredible, hand painted reproduction captures the beauty and wonder of the original. Includes professionally finished back with dust cover and hanging wire. Acrylic glazing. Hand painted. Acid-free stock. Solid wood frame with gold foil finish.
